Hotels in Hong Kong

There are a few hotels right on Lantau the range and choices in other parts of Hong Kong is of course much larger. Given the excellent transport to and from Lantau it is therefore possible to stay elsewhere in the region and still enjoy the sights of Lantau.

Here are a few select choices for accommodation around Hong Kong.

Panda Hotel - Conveniently located in Tuen Wan this 3 star city hotel is just a short drive away from the Tsing Ma Bridge to Lantau making it an excellent base for trips to the island.  Connected directly to a large shopping mall with both local and international chains means easy access to shopping and dining.  A large swimming pool and large rooms also make this an attractive choice for your stay in Hong Kong.

The Peninsula - The Grand Dame of hotels in the orient is now fully modernized while maintaining it's historical styling. If you want to stay where James Bond stayed in Hong Kong, or take a helicopter directly from the airport to your hotel, then The Peninsula on Salisbury Road is your only choice. Combining British Colonial elegance with 5 star modern hotel management The Peninsula is exceptional.

The Warrick Hotel Cheung Chau - Try staying on one of Hong Kong's other outlying islands and take the inter-island ferry to Lantau. While this small hotel has limited facilities it has an outstanding location overlooking the sandy beach on this fishing village island. Regular ferries run between Cheung Chau and Mui Wo on Lantau.

Mira Moon - Located in Wanchai this design-oriented boutique hotel is designed by Marcel Wanders who has taken inspiration from traditional Chinese folk tales to make a modern 5 star hotel experience.

PentaHotel - The first international brand hotel situated in the famous Kai Tak area next to the new Cruise Terminal located on the old airport.  It offers everything the modern digital traveler needs with focus on convenience and rapid deployment for the young and global traveler.

Food Specialties

Lantau is home to some of the most special foods in Hong Kong. Don't miss out on the vegetarian delights served by the Po Lin Monastery right next to the Giant Buddha statue, nor the authentic preserved seafoods and condiments which are made and sold around Tai O village.

Dining choices have never been larger on Lantau but leave space always for the special snacks such as Egg Waffles and Mango stuffed sticky rice dumplings which you will find only in more authentic parts of Hong Kong.
